Skilled, Caring & Compassionate Lawyer, Mediator & Mental Health Professional

Licensed as an attorney in both Florida and New York, I have been practicing law for over 2 decades. I am also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator and dedicated to helping couples navigate the divorce process in as peaceful, respectful and easy was as possible. Combining my legal and mediation skills with being a mental health professional (Florida Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern License #IMT2966), I am able to work with couples from a variety of perspectives to help them through this most difficult of times in their lives. I believe that it is important to understand human relationships and behaviors, because, at its core, all legal disputes and issues impact systemic relationships. The skills I have learned have been invaluable to me, and have greatly increased my ability to listen impartially, understand empathically, and to keep tensions and emotions in check during mediation sessions – even when hostilities and conflict are at their peak.

Education

In 1991, I graduated from the New York University’s Stern school of Business with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance. I then attended the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City, and graduated in 1994 with a Juris Doctor Degree. In 2018, I earned a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. I firmly believe that continuing to learn and grow in very important to my professional development. By combining my formal education with my years of professional experience, my goal is to help my clients and their families who are involved in difficult and emotionally-draining disputes and issues, such as divorce and custody.

Professional Career

While living in New York, and upon graduation from law school in 1994, I was employed as an attorney by several litigation firms, before joining with a partner and opening our own firm in approximately 1996. In 2003, I left that partnership and opened my own practice and had offices in Manhattan, Queens and Long Island. As an attorney in New York, I concentrated on all aspects of civil litigation. I conducted and defended hundreds of depositions, engaged in trial and appellate work, and represented hundreds of clients. Between 2007-2008, I was an Arbitrator for the Civil Court of the City of New York, County of Queens.

Following almost fifteen years of private practice in New York, I relocated to Florida and studied for and passed the Florida Bar in 2010. Since that time, I have had my own law practice where I limit my representation to childcare providers and mental health professionals in the State of Florida.

PeacefulSplit® Divorce Mediation

My main area of focus and time is as a Florida Supreme Court Family Mediator, where I help couples to divorce peacefully while maintaining respect for themselves, their families and children. I do not represent any spouses as an attorney, either in contested or uncontested divorces. Rather, I uniquely work in their area of divorce strictly as a divorce mediator – so that I can always remain a neutral party – to be help spouses obtain a PeacefulSplit®.

Personal Background

I am the proud father of two children, one of whom is severely developmental disabled and suffers from intractable Epilepsy.

Through the process of raising my daughter, and engaging with numerous other parents of special needs children, I realized that I wanted to focus my professional career on helping people deal with difficult and stressful and emotional challenges, such as divorce.

I promise not to judge you or challenge your right to feel whatever you feel.  Your reality is your reality. My job and role is to help each of you find peace in your negotiated settlement and to be able to move forward in your lives as peacefully as is possible.
